John E. Merrifield, CLU®, RHU®, REBC®

John Edward Merrifield, CLU®, RHU®, REBC®  began his insurance career more than 30 years ago and is the founder and president of IFC Benefit Solutions, Inc. IFC was established in 1987 and has continued to grow by listening to their clients, improving processes, and updating technology to better serve their client's needs. IFC’s clients enjoy John’s attention to detail, personalized service, cost consciousness, expert benefit management and advice.
 

In 2002, John received his Executive MBA from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, John holds the designation of (CLU) Chartered Life Underwriter®, (RHU) Registered Health Underwriter® and (REBC) Registered Employee Benefit Consultant®.  John is known as an expert in the insurance field and has authored articles on insurance and estate planning, received numerous professional awards. He has been honored as TCU Neeley School of Business Alumni of the Decade and currently serves on the TCU Neeley Executive Alumni Board and TCU Alumni Career Board. He also serves on the Board of Directors of The Fort Worth Association of Health Underwriters and Southern Virginia University National Advisory Council.

After the death of his son, John has been a statewide advocate for child safety. John successfully led a statewide seat-belt coalition that brought significant attention to seat-belt safety laws and their importance. The State of Texas passed two seat-belt laws during the 76th and 77th Texas Legislature, which increased the backseat passenger seat-belt age requirement from 4 to 17. Today seat-belts are required for all ages in the backseat.

John has been a scoutmaster, BSA Assistant District Commissioner, A member of the BSA Trinity Trails District Committee and was honored with BSA District Award of Merit. John is a member of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, The Society of Financial Service Professionals, The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, The National Association of Health Underwriters, The Texas Association of Health Underwriters, Fort Worth Association of Health Underwriters and Association of Health Insurance Advisors.

John has served on the Board of Trustees for the Ronald McDonald House, past president of Ballet Concerto. John enjoys volunteering his time in church. John and his wife Skylar are members of the Jewel Charity Ball benefiting Cook Children's Hospital. His wife Skylar is a member of the Fort Worth Assembly and Colonial Dames of America and serves on the Board of Directors of Cook Children's Hospital. They are proud parents of four children, and have eight wonderful grandchildren and two on the way.
